Newtown Native, TV Show Set Worker Found Dead In New York

NEW YORK CITY, NY — A Newtown native who was working as a set decorator for "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" was found stabbed to death on Tuesday inside her New York City home, police said.

Police responded to the Astoria home of 34-year-old Mary Kate Golding just after midnight after receiving a 911 call for a possible assault. EMS responded and pronounced Golding deceased in what police sources tell PEOPLE Magazine was a possible murder-suicide.

Hours later, Golding's husband, Joseph Azzaretto, was found dead in a nearby park. Police said his death did not appear to be criminal in nature.

Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that Azzaretto allegedly called a family member and one of his friends to confess to killing his wife before leaving the home. The friend then went to the couple's home where they found their 11-month-old son alive and unharmed.

Golding grew up in Newtown-Upper Makefield and was a 2011 graduate of Council Rock High School North. She later attended the New York University where she ran cross country during her freshman year.

After graduating from NYU in 2015, she built a name for herself working as a set decorator on productions like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" "Goosebumps," "Marry Me" and "The Big Sick."
