DUI Arrests, Fraud Investigations: Newtown Township Police Report

Police also cited the parent of a child for allowing them to ride an electric dirt bike at a high rate of speed on a public sidewalk.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between July 24 and 28:

At approximately 11 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a commercial vehicle for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily. The driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., a Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters to report credit card fraud. The investigation was referred to the detective division and is ongoing.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., police observed a juvenile on an electric dirt bike traveling at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk in the area of South Eagle Road and Durham Road. The officer spoke with the juvenile, contacted the parent, and cited the parent for permitting the illegal action.

July 25

At approximately 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to North Sycamore Street for a hit-and-run traffic accident. Following an investigation, a driver was identified and will be charged with driving under the suspicion of alcohol and for leaving the scene of an accident.

July 28

At approximately 1:30 p.m., police were contacted in reference to a fraud that occurred at a bank in Newtown Township. The incident is under investigation.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report credit card fraud. The investigation was referred to the detective division and is ongoing.
