UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — The Upper Makefield Township Police Department reported the following incidents, arrests, and community events during July.
On July 3, officers investigated a theft of packages from a home on Brooks Bend. The total value of the theft was $331.
On July 4th, Upper Makefield celebrated America's 250th Birthday and the Washington Crossing Historic Park put on a fantastic day of events and of course, a great fireworks display. Other than a few medical related incidents, there were no major issues.
On July 6, officers investigated a protection from abuse violation in the Sycamore Farms community and as a result, an arrest warrant was issued and the investigation is ongoing.
On July 12, officers conducted a station tour and a Q&A for local parents and their children.
On July 14, officers arrested a subject at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in reference to a Bucks County probation arrest warrant and that person was turned over to the Bucks County Sheriffs.
Also on July 14, a resident was contacted via phone by a person claiming to be from the U.S. government and they advised that their social security number had been compromised. The scammer wanted the resident's pertinent information and was told that failure to cooperate would result in their arrest. Fortunately, the resident did not provide any information and contacted police.
On July 15, the township marked the third anniversary of the devastating flood that claimed the lives of Maddie and Conrad Sheils, their mother, Katie Seley; Enzo and Linda DePiero, Susan Barnhart, and Yuko Love. They will never be forgotten.
On July 15, officers investigated a road rage incident on Windy Bush Road which did not result in any criminal charges due to a lack of cooperation from the reporting parties.
On July 16, our department said goodbye to Sgt. Daniel Jones as he retired after 26 years of dedicated service to the Upper Makefield Community.
On July 18, a resident thwarted an attempt by scammers to have the resident pay them $20,000 in an elaborate cellphone scam to unlock their phone.
On July 20, officers investigated a burglary that occurred on Pondview Drive sometime between July 16 and 20. Two jewelry items were found to be missing. The investigation is ongoing.
On July 22, a subject was arrested for simple assault, ethnic intimidation, and terroristic threats after a business dispute escalated on Beaumont Drive.
On July 23, the department mourned the passing of Upper Makefield Fire Company life member and former Battalion Chief Harold Howie Range.
On July 26, officers investigated six thefts from vehicles and one theft of a Ford F-250 from the Wilkes Manor neighborhood and on Oakdale Avenue and Maple Shade Avenue.
On July 27, a solicitation permit was issued to Corbin King (Full Circle Services), which will be valid until November 9.
On July 29, the Newtown-Makefield Motor Carrier Task Force conducted a commercial vehicle inspection detail in Wrightstown Township which resulted in 9 inspections, 4 citations, 3 trucks being placed out of service, and 2 drivers placed out of service.
On July 31, officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The traffic stop resulted in the vehicle being impounded in order to obtain a search warrant. Upon service of that search warrant, officers recovered the following: methamphetamine, marijuana, LSD, mushrooms, and related drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending.
