The owners said the economics of continuing to operate their brick-and-mortar location are not sustainable.

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — Skip's Chicken, which opened two years ago this month on Durham Road in Wrightstown, will be closing its doors effective Sept. 1.

In a letter to friends, family, and customers, owners Jeremy and Dan Cruz said they are "incredibly grateful to the Wrightstown and Newtown communities for welcoming Skip's and supporting us over the past two years. We are especially thankful to the local gluten-free community that embraced us and helped make this location such a special part of the Skip's story.

"When we opened Wrightstown, our goals were to bring the Skip's Chicken experience to our home community and to learn what it would take to develop a model that could help the Skip's brand grow," the owners said. "We are proud of what we accomplished and, even more importantly, grateful for the customers, employees and community relationships that came from it."

At the same time, Jeremy and Dan said the economics of continuing to operate its brick-and-mortar location in Wrightstown are not sustainable.

"For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to close Wrightstown rather than compromise the quality and experience people expect from Skip's," the owners said.

While the Wrightstown restaurant is closing, Skip's Chicken is not. Its food trailer will continue operating locally, including gluten-free options, and looks forward to serving the community at events and stops throughout the area.

The broader Skip's Chicken brand will also continue to grow, including its recently opened location in Strasburg, Lancaster County.

To make the transition as easy as possible for customers who have supported the business, gift cards may be redeemed at the Wrightstown restaurant through August 30. If you're unable to use an existing gift card before then, contact dan@skipswrightstown.com, and Skip's will purchase it back for the remaining balance.

Jeremy and Dan also expressed their thanks to Skip's Wrightstown team and to its customers.

"Thank you to the Wrightstown and Newtown communities. And thank you to everyone who came through our doors, told a friend about Skip's, brought their family for dinner, visited our trailer, or trusted us to provide gluten-free options," they said.

"This isn't goodbye to Skip's. It's simply the end of this chapter in Wrightstown," Jeremy and Dan said. "We hope you'll visit us before our final day and continue following Skip's Chicken for food trailer locations, Strasburg updates, and what comes next."
