Traditional Yoga Studio Opens At The Shoppes In Wrightstown

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — A new yoga studio has put out the welcome mat at the Shoppes at Wrightstown at 591 Durham Road.

TrueYoga Studio and School opened in August inside a newly renovated space next to Organnons Natural Market.

The studio is owned by Newtown Borough's Elle Kaplan, who has taught traditional yoga, conducted workshops and led trainings and retreats in Bucks County for more than a quarter of a century.

A step inside the 2200-square-foot studio finds a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with three distinct spaces - a retail store devoted to all things yoga, a tea and art lounge, and a yoga studio where classes and trainings happen.

After 25 years in the business, Kaplan said it was time to open her own space with a goal of bringing back traditional yoga which she fears has gotten lost with time.

"There are a lot of wonderful studios out there offering more than traditional yoga. And I think that's great, but I felt a strong need to bring back the tradition and with that this studio is based on community, authenticity and tradition," said Kaplan.

"It's not a hot studio. I believe the work begins from within. You come as you are and you do the work from the inside out," she said. "Yoga is an opportunity to learn and to grow and get to know yourself a little more. And once we can see ourselves and all the facets we are, the more we can see others and all their facets - good and bad. It doesn't matter.

"I truly believe that we are here to find that peace within ourselves and I hope I can create that space that will facilitate that with workshops and working with the community and organizations like A Love For Life and A Woman's Place. There is so much we can do."

Kaplan credits her family for encouraging her to open the new studio, which she's hoping will become a gathering place in the community.

It has been a true family endeavor. Her son has been handling tech issues. Her daughter has been helping with marketing. And her husband has led the construction end.

Kaplan first got involved in yoga in the late 1990s as a physical practice. "In one day, what I found was that if I breathed in a little different way everything changed. So much began to unfold from that. And I'm so grateful for all the teachers who have come before me."

At her new studio, Kaplan is offering yoga classes, slow flow, dynamic, chair yoga, restore and renew classes, active mobile and recovery, TrueYoga Practice, and much more.

"We will also be offering workshops, meditation classes and community yoga," said Kaplan.

Signups will be taken online and at the door. Class and workshop packages are also available by visiting the studio's website. Most classes start at 9 a.m., although there are some that start as early as 8 a.m. Classes are also held during the day and on some evenings. For details, click here.
