NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A backyard in Newtown will feel a lot like Bavaria Saturday night as neighbors and friends gather for this year's Oktoberfest.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from "Oktoberfest - The Best of Times, The Wurst of Times," will benefit Newtown-based "A Love For Life," a nonprofit dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research at the Abramson Cancer Center at The University of Pennsylvania and improving outcomes for those who are currently fighting the disease. Every dollar donated will help improve the odds for cancer patients.
The evening is expected to raise more than $15,000 thanks in part to a large number of product sponsors, including Philadelphia- based DiBruno Brothers, which is donating the bratwurst and wieners, and local bakery Mamie Colette, which is donating all of the sourdough bread loaves.
The fundraiser is also supported by HARIBO, Newtown Hardware House, The Restaurant Store, TMK Produce, Philly Pretzel Factory, Moore Brothers Wine Company, and Second Sin Brewery.

A Love For Life is again partnering with the Central Bucks chapter of the National Charity League based in Doylestown to help make the evening possible. The league provides the volunteers each year.
"This is one of our family's favorite fundraisers," said Christine Edmonds, who runs the organization. "It combines all of the things we love - really good food and cold beer and Austrian music and my mom's amazing potato salad. She's not here to help make it anymore, but we all feel like her spirit is with us as soon as the accordion music starts playing. It's a wonderful way to catch up with neighbors and friends after the summer when everyone has been busy and vacationing and running here and there."
