NEWTOWN, PA — Peter Hall will join the historic Newtown Theatre on November 1 as its new executive director. He succeeds Andy Smith, who will retire on December 31 after 10 years leading the theatre.

A Newtown Borough resident who lives three blocks from the theatre, Hall has served on the theatre's board for the past two years and brings a 20-year background in technology and design to the job.
For 15 of those years, he worked with museums, cultural institutions, and nonprofits, most recently at Philadelphia-based digital agency Bluecadet, helping mission-driven organizations reach and engage their audiences.
Hall is also a guitarist and music producer who records other artists through his studio, Breakneck Sound, and he played a key role in developing the theatre's live music program nearly a decade ago. He sees the executive director role as the place where those two sides of his career come together.
"Pete helped bring music to our stage when we were looking to broaden our programming, and he's been involved ever since," says Executive Director Andy Smith. "Most importantly, he understands what this theatre means to generations of Bucks Countians. I can't think of anyone better to lead it forward."
"From helping start the concert series to bringing my kids to The Polar Express every December, the Newtown Theatre has become part of my family's story," says Hall. "Andy and the team have built something special, and I'm excited to help write its next chapter with the supporters who make the theatre one of the gems of our community."
