NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The witches of Newtown will ditch their broomsticks for bicycles at the inaugural Newtown Witches' Ride on Saturday, October 31.
Hosted by The Newtown Experience, the event involves up to 50 costumed bicyclists taking to the streets of Newtown Borough for a slow, three-mile(ish) ride through town.
Registered participants should meet at 9 a.m. for check-in, costume check, and pictures in the Newtown Bicycle Shop parking lot (30 North State Street). The ride starts at 10 a.m.
The event is for witches (and warlocks) 18 and older. The Witches' Ride costs $15, and preregistration is required. No day-of registration will be available. Streets will not be closed during this event, and participants are responsible for their own safety on open streets with car traffic.
Participants should dress as witches or warlocks. Broomsticks should not be part of the costume (the bike is the broomstick) and costumes should be secured so nothing gets caught in the bike wheels or chain.
A portion of the proceeds from the Witches' Ride will be donated to Hands Holding Hearts, which supports children and families going through grief.
