UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — A powerful new introductory film is expected to make its debut this fall at the Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitors Center.
The film is produced in partnership with Wide Awake Films, an award-winning company behind historical films featured at George Washington's Mount Vernon home.
The production draws on current historical scholarship and cinematic storytelling to place audiences amid the dramatic events of December 1776, park officials said.
Once complete, it will be shown daily in the Visitor Center theater and will provide visitors with essential context before they explore the grounds of the park where history unfolded 250 years ago.
Filmed during a snowy January weekend at the park, the production features reenactors, horses, encampment scenes, and locations throughout the historic village of Taylorsville and at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead.

The new film will focus on the events of December 1776 and the site's role in the American Revolution, drawing on the latest historical scholarship and using modern cinematography to place visitors in the middle of the events surrounding the crossing.
The project marks the first major update to the current introductory film since 2000 and marks a transformative investment in how visitors experience and understand Washington Crossing Historic Park.
The film is one of several transformative projects supported by the Friends' $2.5 million 2026 capital campaign. With the campaign nearing its goal, the public's support can help bring the improvements across the finish line
