UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — A stunning display of flags now lines the main road at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield.
Volunteers from the Travis Manion Foundation were at the cemetery on Saturday to raise 150 flags that once draped the coffins of veterans interred here.
The display serves as the backdrop for the cemetery's annual Veterans Day Ceremony to be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. The public is invited to gather at the main flagpole to honor the nation's heroes, surrounded by the deeply personal pieces of history.
The flags, donated to the cemetery by the families of the veterans interred here, will remain raised for the community to see and experience until they are respectfully taken down on Removal Day after the holiday concludes.
