On Sept. 19, the artwork of 15 aspiring young students from Newtown age 8-17 was showcased at Countryside Gallery on State Street.

The opening day “Meet the Young Artists” reception was a big success as family, friends, and members of the community came to view the students‘ creations.

Local watercolor artist Judy LaTorre and professional photographer Marv Kaplan were in attendance to support the students, and left words of praise and encouragement for the young artists in the guest book. Meanwhile, just outside of the gallery, Newtown artist Ilya Lerner stood at his easel working on one of his beautiful oil paintings as guests arrived.

Visitors enjoyed refreshments provided by gallery owners Michael Hammer, Richard Fekete, and the students’ art instructor Bonnie Porter. Participating student artists included Connor Boucher, Camryn Blauth, Erin Casey, Anthony Kelly, Olivia Kelly, Brady Klein, Anna Lee, Hanna Lipski, Kate Logan, Abbie Lustig, Grace Porter, Nolan Riesenberger, Katie Sukunda, Anna Williamson, and Sarah Williamson.
