NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA —The Newtown Library Company is the latest recipient of a check for $1,000 from the Newtown Athletic Club's Have Heart Foundation's "52K in 52 Weeks" campaign.

The library accepted a check for $1,000 from the foundation in support of its 5K Run/Walk for Reading, which takes place in a few weeks on Saturday, Oct. 7 (Newtown Market Day). This is one of two annual signature fundraising events held during the year in support of the library.

The Newtown Library Company, the oldest continually operating subscription-based library in Bucks County, is a nonprofit that relies solely on membership fees and donations for support. The library hosts a number of ongoing community events including weekly Children’s Storytime and the Newtown Library Poetry Series, and many fundraisers including its popular Booklover's Party in February and the 5K Run on Newtown Market Day.

Several years ago, the NAC made a sizeable contribution to the library, which was used to purchase computer hardware and systems for the library.
