Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Newtown Market Day Is A Go For Saturday
Newtown Market Day organizers will be moving forward with the event on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Market Day is a go for Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Market Day Committee announced on Friday afternoon.
"We thank you for your patience as we navigate a challenging ever-changing weather forecast for the weekend," they posted on the Newtown Historic Association Facebook page. "As per our verbiage, we are a rain or shine event and only use the rain date should it be unsafe conditions such as high winds.
"The report for Saturday collectively calls for low winds, warmer weather, and drizzle in the late afternoon. Rain accumulation is minor - about a tenth of an inch," reads the posting. "Sunday, however, calls for morning temperatures of 30 to 40 degrees, a high of 58 degrees around 4 p.m. and winds of 25 mph and higher. Sunday will be a more dangerous day to set up, keep tents secured and turn out for foot traffic.

The beloved annual tradition, now in its 47th year, offers a glimpse into colonial America. More than 100 artists, artisans, and craftspeople will showcase their wares, creating an immersive experience reminiscent of Newtown's early days.
Attendees are invited to enjoy live music, sample artisan foods, and participate in a wide range of colonial activities including historic reenactments, corn shucking, puppet shows, candle making, and even a pie-eating contest.
Musical talents featured at this year's event include Bill Dooley at the Half-Moon Inn, Steve Tourison (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), and Mike Pfeiffer (1 to 3 p.m.) at the Callahan Research Center.
A not-to-be-missed raffle will also take place, offering the chance to win generous prizes,
including $200 gift cards for dinner at the Black Bass Hotel and the Golden Pheasant Inn. Raffle tickets are available for $2 each or $10 for a book of six. The drawing will occur around 3:30 p.m. Participants need not be present to win.
