NEWTOWN, PA — After an unsettled Saturday forced the postponement of the Newtown Egg Hunt, organizers will try it again on Easter weekend.

The annual Newtown Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled to hit the ground running on Saturday, April 8 behind the Goodnoe Elementary School.

Kids of all ages are invited to meet and greet the Easter Bunny beginning at 8:30 a.m. Age group hunts will follow at 9:15 a.m. sharp.

Around 8,000 eggs will be scattered across the grass and filled with treats. The eggs are being donated by The First National Bank of Newtown with Sam’s Club providing the treats inside.

According to hunt organizer Paul Salvatore, a few lucky hunters will find a golden egg hidden inside their colorful plastic eggs. That will entitle them to a special age-appropriate prize.

Prizes are being donated by Opus Elite Realty, Zebra-Striped Whale, Triple Sun, Newtown Chocolatier, Playa Bowls, Newtown Book & Record, Party Fair and Paul Salvatore and Keller Williams.

After their kids and grandchildren hit the field in a series of age-group hunts, adults and
grandparents will get their chance in what typically ends up being a frenzied scramble across the grass.

The hunt, which is organized by the Newtown Rotary Club, is free and open to the public.

A special thank you to the residents of the Birches and Pickering Manor and the students of the Council Rock Achieve program for helping to fill the eggs.
