Newtown Theatre to Host Oscars Party

An Academy Awards party is planned in Newtown.

The Newtown Theatre and Newtown Arts Company will co-host the Oscars party on Sunday, Feb. 22. The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at the theatre.

Tickets are $40 per person or $70 per couple. Attendance is limited to 250 people.

Included in the ticket price is unlimited heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine, beer and two door-prize raffle tickets.

The Academy Awards ceremony will be projected on the big screen via the theatre’s new digital projection and sound system. The evening will also feature an Oscar ballot competition. Guests are encouraged to come “dressed to impress,” organizers said in a statement.

All proceeds from the evening benefit the Newtown Theatre and Newtown Arts Company, which are both nonprofits.

The 87th Academy Awards will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris.
