Volunteers Sought For Earth Day Creek Cleanup In Newtown

Volunteers should wear long-sleeved shirts and jeans and be prepared to help haul out tree limbs and branches.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Newtown Creek Coalition is looking for volunteers to help cleanup a section of the Newtown Creek.

The event will take place on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the site of the old trolley bridge. There is no rain date.

Volunteers are asked to meet behind Penn Community Bank at 295 North Sycamore Street. They should wear long-sleeved shirts and jeans and be prepared to help haul out tree limbs and branches. A pair of work gloves and heavy boots are recommended.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult and waiver forms signed by a parent.

Leck Waste Services is providing the dumpster and debris hauling. And property owner Allan Smith is providing site access, parking and a dumpster location.
