Wayward Deer Takes Detour Down State Street In Newtown: Part Two
Now we know why the deer came into town. Evidently, he had a few things to pick up at the store.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Remember that wayward deer that bolted down State Street last Friday afternoon? Now we know why he came into town.
It turns out that before he headed south on State Street where Rich and I saw him racing down the sidewalk he decided to do a little shopping on North State Street.
Randee Cahan of Newtown was talking with the owner of Grapevine outside on the sidewalk when he ran into the store.

“We had literally moved a few steps away from his front door to let a customer walk into the store when the owner froze then called out, ‘Deer’ as he moved me aside and we saw the deer enter his store,” she told Patch.
“His employee was at the register and wasn’t sure what to do! Fortunately, she stayed put. The deer ran in and went straight to the back room. Miraculously he turned around and then ran right out of the store without causing any damage other than some scuff marks on his floor!

“If we hadn’t moved, that deer would have hit me in the back on his way into the store! He ran out of the store, jumped in front of a parked car then crossed the street. He then proceeded to run towards the other stores that you reported on,” she told Patch.
“I wondered where that deer headed and now I know!”
Randee told me she was “quite happy about not getting hit for sure because even though they weren’t huge he had some antlers that definitely would have hurt! I feel like this deer was definitely in the right place for some great shopping!
“All in all I do feel badly we are encroaching on their space," said Randee. "Take care and watch out for deer!!"
