1,400 Damage Reports, Recovery Center To Open: Montco Ida Updates
The Resource Center aims to assist residents with property damage and more as recovery from the devastating storm continues.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A multi-agency resource center will be launched to assist Montgomery County as it continues to recover from the devastating impacts of the remnants of Hurricane Ida last week.
The center, located at 2 W. Lafayette Street in Norristown, will be open from Wednesday, Sept. 8, from noon to 7 p.m., and on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. 5 p.m.
The center will connect residents with a wide variety of recovery resources, including state emergency management agencies, elected officials, and county and state human services agencies.

The storm brought historic flooding to the Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek, while a powerful tornado with wind gusts up to 130 miles per hour ripped through parts of Whitemarsh and Horsham townships. Three people died in the county as a result of the storm.
Some 1,400 people in Montgomery County have already filed damage reports. Residents are urged to report any damage immediately through a two part process: contact the county here, and then contact your individual township (list of municipal contacts available here).

For immediate assistance in cutting fallen trees, removing drywall, flooring, and other issues, call the county's Ida Crisis Cleanup Hotline at (844) 965-1386.
For those displaced by the storm, a shelter for families and individuals (with or without pets) is open at Norristown Area High School.
