11-Day Code Blue Declaration Issued In Montgomery Co.
The county has once again extended the Code Blue declaration.
NORRISTOWN, PA — The Code Blue cold weather emergency declaration originally declared in Montgomery County on Thanksgiving has been extended again, authorities announced Monday.
The declaration will now expire Dec. 8.
That will mark 11 consecutive days under a Code Blue, by far the longest of the year, and coming just weeks after record high temperatures in parts of the region during an abnormally dry fall.

Low temperatures will consistently remain in the low to mid 20s for much of the region over the coming week, with wind chills possibly in the teens on some nights.

The county offered the following tips to residents:
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated
- If you see someone in need of immediate emergency assistance, call or text 9-1-1
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; DO NOT call 9-1-1
