149 PA Nursing Homes Receive Highest Rating From Federal Gov't

A total of 149 nursing homes in Pennsylvania received the federal government's highest rating. See the full list here.

PENNSYLVANIA — The federal government has given 149 nursing homes in Pennsylvania a five-star rating after tweaking the way it assesses thousands of nursing homes nationwide. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services last month revised its inspection process and began providing improved staffing details and new quality metrics. The changes were aimed at providing more transparent and meaningful information about the quality of care that residents receive.

In addition to the 149 perfect scores, the Keystone State boasts another 152 with four stars. There are 126 with three, 128 with two, and 134 with one. Nursing homes with five stars are considered to have above-average quality while those with one star are considered to have below-average quality.

Below are the ratings for each of the 149 highest ranking homes in Pennsylvania as of April 24, according to the agency's Nursing Home Compare tool. The site provides detailed information about every Medicare-certified nursing home in America.
