A GoFundMe started for the family has raised $184,752 as of Friday morning for funeral expenses and passport and travel costs for family members from India to visit and care for the children and Remya. Nearly 3,000 people have donated.

"Because of Remya’s condition, we need her conscious consent for every major decision including arrangements to Chicku’s final rites and feasibilities to transport his body to India," wrote family member Sri Raj, who launched the GoFundMe. "We ask you to join us in offering your heartfelt prayers for her full and swift recovery."
