2 Deaths, 113 New Coronavirus Cases In Montgomery County

It was the highest number of cases reported in a single day in Montgomery County thus far, as testing capabilities continue to expand.

The 113 new cases brings the county's total to 707, as of Thursday afternoon. Among those 113 new cases was the county's youngest infected resident to date: a one-month-old child. It's not known if the child is hospitalized.

While Thursday marks one of the largest single day increases in new positives in Montgomery County, officials reminded the public that the increases are expected, and are at least partially due to an increase the number of test results coming back.

Furthermore, more important than the total number of cases, Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said, is the percentage of positive tests which return as positives. The daily fluctuations in new cases is less indicative of any trends than that percentage number.
