2 Shooting Incidents In Upper Merion Thursday; No Public Threat
The incidents were unrelated and both involved self-inflicted gunshots, police said.

UPPER MERION, PA — Police responded to two separate shooting incidents on Thursday, they announced in the afternoon. The incidents were unrelated and an investigation revealed that both involved self-inflicted wounds.
There is no threat to the public, however, police said the significant law enforcement response around the shootings and the spread of rumors led them to issue a clarifying statement.
"We felt it important that we provide information into these incidents, because of the visible Police/EMS response and the locations of the incidents," the department said in a statement posted online.

The first incident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. at an area hotel. The second occurred at about 2 p.m. in a nearby apartment complex, police said.
The condition of the victims in both cases was not immediately available.

Though they do not believe there is a threat to the community, authorities said that they will continue to investigate both cases.
