NORRISTOWN, PA — Officer Thomas Barone was killed in the line of duty 26 years ago. His heroism is remembered to this day.
Barone was a member of the Norristown Police Department when he laid down his life, but he also served multiple nearby municipalities, including Tredyffrin and Limerick.
"Today we remember Norristown Police Officer, Tommy Barone,"" the Norristown Police Department wrote on Thursday, the anniversary of Barone's death. He was killed in the line of duty 23 years ago, responding to a domestic violence call. We will never forget! Thank you for your sacrifice."

Barone, 32, had answered a domestic disturbance call at a row house on the 600 block of West Elm Street on Oct. 11, 1992, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
He was climbing a narrow staircase when the suspect opened fire on him and hit him multiple times, the page states.

The suspect was caught soon thereafter and sentenced to death, but died in prison before the sentence could be carried out.
Barone had served with the Norristown Police Department for two years before his death.
