The $28M Ribbon Has Been Cut On Norristown's Tallest Building

NORRISTOWN, PA — One Montgomery Plaza, which stands as the tallest point in the municipality, has seen its exterior overhaul completed.
County officials celebrated the completion of the $28 million "reskin" of the county government headquarters during a special ribbon cutting ceremony last week. The renovations included a sparkling new modern façade, updated safety and accessibility options, and outdoor seating
"With the reskin complete, we have literally changed the skyline of downtown Norristown," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said in a statement.

It's one of several major projects underway or complete in Norristown, along with the new Justice Center, the Hancock Square Park expansion, and the Lafayette Street Extension.
The exterior overhaul of this building began in 2016. Other updates included better water and air infiltration, and new, more energy efficient windows.

“While having a new, modern building is certainly important, our biggest goal was to make the building more welcoming for our residents who visit here to conduct business,” Commissioner Ken Lawrence added. “As the headquarters of Montgomery County, One Montgomery Plaza is the central place where our departments interact with Montco citizens.”
The electrical system will also see a full upgrade in the coming months, officials said.
One Montgomery Plaza is located at 425 Swede Street in Norristown.
