38 Locations Across Montgomery Co. Participating In Drug Take Back Day

NORRISTOWN, PA — Dozens of police stations and other locations around Montgomery County will set up drop boxes as part of the biannual Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, April 26.

These take back days are vital in preventing addiction and overdoses, officials say, as many drug users first become hooked on opioids due to expired medications which linger in cabinets long after their shelf life.

In addition, holding an official Take Back Day allows residents to dispose of medications in a safe way. Many people flush toxic medications down the toilet, which is environmentally destructive to the water supply.

In recent years, thousands of pounds of medications have been collected in a single day.

Accepted items include prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules, inhalers and nasal sprays, creams and ointments, pet medicines, and vaping products.

All stations and drop boxes will have police officers there to facilitate the drop off.
