Powerful winds ripped down trees and power lines in Montgomery County Monday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The major storm Monday has left several thousand individuals without power in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon, as the region recovers from torrential rain and destructive winds that knocked down trees and power lines.

The weather was severe enough to spark a tornado warning in much of Montgomery County Monday evening, with pea-sized hail and winds over 60 miles per hour threatening.

A total of 4,042 people still were without power as of 11 a.m. Tuesday. PECO's estimated restoration time ranged from just a few hours to a few days.

It's the second time in just the past few weeks that destructive winds knocked out power.

"Yet again, many in our community woke up to downed trees, road closures, and possible storm damage," U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-Chester/Berks) said in a statement. "I've said it before but it's worth saying every time - our first repsonders and local officials often work through the night to fix the roads and restore power. To all those who have helped and support our first repsonders, thank you! You are appreciated."
