After Years Of Debate, Conshohocken Approves New 'Super' Wawa
After years of debate, the controversial new "super" Wawa in Conshohocken has been approved.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Conshohocken approved the development of a new super Wawa on Fayette Street during their borough council meeting on Wednesday night.
6ABC reports that the council approved the initiative by a vote of 4-3.
Wawa has been attempting to build on the site of the former Moore Chevrolet Dealership in the downtown area for years, but has faced a variety of hurdles in their quest.

The debate has gone on since at least 2010, when the idea was first brought forth. The plan has been rejected by various borough committees multiple times of the years, with the most recent rejection from the Planning Committee in September.
However, the council as a whole then voted 4-3 to hold Wednesday's public hearing to approve the project.

Among the most common complaints, often echoed in other towns where neighbors are hesitant about new Wawas, is a concern over traffic.
Some who disapproved of the measure also pointed to the regular Wawa that already exists just a few minutes away on Conshohocken State Road.
The Conshohocken Revitalization Alliance said that an "overwhelming number" of members of the public attended the meeting to voice their disapproval of the project.
MoreThanTheCurve reports that a lawsuit regarding the procedural portion of the public hearing Wednesday could be forthcoming.
