American Cornhole Championships To Be Held In Montgomery County

There are $55,000 in cash payouts for the cornhole event in Montco, which will be broadcast on ESPN.

OAKS, PA — The first major event in Montgomery County since the shutdowns began in mid-March will take place this weekend, as the county will host the American Cornhole League Championships.

The event will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks on Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.

No spectators will be allowed, but the championship will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Organizers say that numerous safety precautions are in place, and are confident they can pull the event off without issue.

"Our first priority is the safety of the players and staff, and we will be following all social distancing, disinfecting and cleaning guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," the Expo Center said in a statement.

Things get started at 10 a.m. on Friday with preliminary rounds. The finals will be held at noon on Sunday.

The winner will take home a grand prize of $10,000.

The Expo Center added that in the future, as public events begin, they will require everyone who enters to wear a mask. A car show, model train show, and several comic and gaming conventions are back on the schedule for the late summer and early fall. See details here.
