NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown has canceled its 4th of July parade due to extreme heat, they announced.
The Party in the Park at Elmwood Park, as well as the fireworks, will go on as scheduled.
Temperatures are expected to shoot up over 100 degrees over the coming days, while a "heat dome" keeps high levels of humidity in the area for an extended period of time.
Officials said the decision was made after consulting with council and municipal leaders.
Montgomery County's health department has issued a code red extreme heat declaration for the remainder of the week.
