Major 'Nonpartisan' Protest Planned At Lockheed Martin In King Of Prussia

Organizers call on "all persons of faith and conscience...to the shadow of the world’s largest arms manufacturer."

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A major protest is planned this week at Lockheed Martin's facilities in King of Prussia.

Organizers with the No Kings coalition, which has hosted numerous nationally coordinated protest events against the Trump administration over the past two years, describe this protest as "nonpartisan" and simply advocating for peace.

It's part of the national "Good Trouble Lives On" movement which commemorates the life of civil rights organizer and Congressman John Lewis.

"We remember John Lewis this weekend of action by gathering to pray and preach against the spirit of war and war profiteering," organizers of the local event shared. "All persons of faith and conscience in the King of Prussia area are invited to a legal, nonviolent prayer vigil in the shadow of the world’s largest arms manufacturer."

The event is scheduled for Friday, July 17 from 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m.

In addition to being nonpartisan, organizers said the event would be nonviolent and lawful, and that participants are expected to de-escalate any potential confrontations.

"In this action, we remember that American wars are disproportionately fought by the very Americans who are the most marginalized, those whose civil rights are the least valued," organizers said. "The victims of American weapons are also disproportionately the poor of the world, including children."

Lockheed Martin in King of Prussia has been the site of countless protests by various organizations in recent years, including an event in April that resulted in 25 arrests. Among them was the co-founder of Ben and Jerry's, Ben Cohen.
