$200M Minor League Baseball Stadium Proposed In King Of Prussia

The proposed facility would also host professional soccer games.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A minor league baseball stadium complex has been proposed in Upper Merion Township, a potentially transformative development for one of the fast growing suburbs in the region.

The stadium would be located on First Avenue, at the Moore Park business complex, and could also potentially host professional soccer games.

"(The idea) is very exciting but right now it's just a possibility. That's it," Upper Merion Supervisor Greg Weks said in a statement Thursday. "A lot of different pieces will have to fall into place for it to come to fruition. It remains just a possibility but one absolutely worth exploration."

The stadium would house roughly seven thousand people.

Details on the possibility remain scarce. The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that it would be entirely dependent upon major state funding. That report placed the price tag for the project at $200 million.

The township has applied for preliminary grants related to the project.

The township would also likely need to find a way to ameliorate additional traffic brought to an already intensely congested area. Plans for SEPTA passenger rail to connect to King of Prussia have been proposed numerous times in the past, but the most recent project was scrapped in 2023 over funding concerns.

There has been no public discussion yet on which minor league baseball affiliate could play in the stadium. The location would be extremely enticing to the Phillies, but no Phillies minor league teams appear to be searching for a new home. The stadium could also attract an independent league team to the region, much like the lately departed Camden Riversharks.

This is a breaking story. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
