Ex-treasurer of Norristown church jailed, stole $351,000 from church coffers (timesherald.com) — A former volunteer treasurer of a long-established Norristown church has been sentenced to county jail and lengthy probation for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the congregation's accounts. Investigators say he made hundreds of unauthorized ATM withdrawals, forcing insurance to cover the loss while he now owes full restitution.
2. Norristown man facing prison for domestic assault and indecent assault of child (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Norristown man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a violent domestic incident and a separate indecent assault of a child at his Swede Street residence, and now faces up to three years in state prison plus probation. He will undergo sexual offender evaluations, long-term registration, and strict no-contact orders, with sentencing to be finalized after further review.
3. Dolly Parton's program provides free books for children in Philly region (inquirer.com) — Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is already mailing free books each month to about 3,500 children in the Norristown and Pottstown areas, with help from the Literacy Council of Norristown. Local organizers say they expect the program to continue and hope to expand it across Pennsylvania in honor of Parton's literacy legacy.
4. U.S. Air Force Deploys Robot Dogs and Drones to Inspect Its Biggest Aircraft (gadgetreview.com) — A Norristown-based startup, Asylon Robotics, just landed a multimillion-dollar Air Force contract to use robot dogs and drones to inspect massive C-5 and C-130 aircraft in hours instead of days. The system creates detailed 3D digital twins so human technicians can safely review potential issues, and success in Georgia could open bigger opportunities for this Norristown company.
