Upper Merion HS Student Chosen As National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Several Montgomery County students took the first step in earning the nationally competitive, elite scholarship.

UPPER MERION, PA — Several students from Montgomery County, including one from Upper Merion High School, have been chosen as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, the first step in qualification for the prestigious scholarship.

If selected, the scholarship awards students $2,000 per year of college study.

The Upper Merion student selected was Dillon Doan.

School districts like North Penn, Wissahickon, and Methacton were represented by large contingents.

A total of 16,000 students nationwide have been selected as semifinalists.

Next spring, the group will be narrowed based on their high school achievements and other factors. A rough total of 6,700 finalists will be named to win scholarships.

All students nationwide are automatically entered into consideration when they take the PSAT test.
