Remembering The Montgomery Co. Residents Who Died On 9/11

Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, which claimed the lives of roughly 3,000 people across several states.

At least 13 of the victims were either from Montgomery County, lived here, or had close connections to the area. Pennsylvania residents comprise 58 of the victims of that day.

In remembrance of the victims, Montgomery County has just moved their 9/11 memorial from Eagleville to a more visible public location at Elmwood Park in Norristown.

The thirteen individuals connected to Montgomery County are listed below. Some of the biographical details are compiled from the 9/11 Living Memorial, an online library honoring the unique lives of the victims who lost their lives 25 years ago.

Jeffrey Coale, 31, of Souderton, was born in Bryn Mawr and was employed as an assistant wine master at the Windows on the World, located on the top stories of the north tower.

Lawrence Don Kim, 31, of Blue Bell. A senior IT manager, he taught himself German to read Freud in the original and could quote from Goethe's "Faust."

Timothy D. Betterly, 42, son of Donald and Joan Betterly of Ambler. Former Bond Trader for Cantor Fitzgerald.

Christopher "Buddha" Clarke, 34, husband to Casey Clarke and the son of Janet Clarke of Villanova. Former Bond Trader and Managing Director at Sandler O'Neill.

Andrew Kates, 37, former Senior Managing Director for Cantor Fitzgerald. He grew up in Montgomery County and was a graduate of Cheltenham High School.

Alisha C. Levin, 33, sister to Mindy Gottenberg of Huntingdon Valley. Former Vice President of Human Resources for Fuji Bank.

Kathryn Blair Lee, 55, sister to Greg Bristow of Perkiomenville.
Former Senior Vice President of Marsh Inc.

Robert Francis Mace, 43, born in Pottstown, and lived in
New Hanover through high school. Former Assistant Counsel for Cantor Fitzgerald.

Noell Maerz, 29, son of Ralph and Patricia Maerz of Lansdale.
He worked for Euro Brokers in the World Trade Center. Noell was a standout athlete at Lansdale Catholic growing up and later became a triathlete.

Robert G. McIlvaine, 26, son of Robert K. and Helen McIlvaine of Oreland. Former Assistant Vice President of Media Relations for Merrill Lynch & Co.

Johanna Sigmund, 25, daughter of John and Ruth Sigmund of Wyndmoor. Former Investor Liaison at Fred Alger Management.

James J. Straine Jr., 36, son of James Straine Sr. of Ambler and
Mary Fineran Straine of Conshohocken. Former Bond Trader for Cantor Fitzgerald.

Sigrid Charlotte Wiswe, 41, sister to Birgit Wiswe and the daughter of Ute Bongers, both of Collegeville. Former Manager for American Express.
