NORRISTOWN, PA — A portion of Norristown will be sprayed with chemicals to control the mosquito population Tuesday night.
Spraying will be held from 7:40 p.m. to 10 p.m. Buttonwood Street and Forrest Avenue and from West Oak Street to Sterigere Street.
Residents should consider closing doors and windows and staying inside during the spraying.
The activity will target areas where mosquito populations and West Nile Virus have been found.
Duet Duel-Action Adulticide will be sprayed from a truck-mounted low volume sprayer.
The adulticide breaks down with sunlight and leaves no residue behind. Officials say the spray, which contains sumithrin and prallethrin, is not harmful to humans, mammals, or plants when applied as intended by professionals.
