EAST NORRITON, PA — East Norriton Township has received a large grant from the state to fund a new fire truck.
The $700,000 grant will purchase a new tower ladder truck for Norriton Fire Engine Co.
Officials are hopeful the new truck will help firefighters respond even more quickly in emergencies.
The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's Local Share Account program.
"I'm grateful that these projects are making our community a better place," State Rep. Matt Bradford said in announcing the grants. "And I'm pleased that (investment)...will keep us safe, provide recreational access to people with disabilities, and protect our environment."
In addition to funds for the new fire truck, Bradford also $50,000 to fund new electric vehicle charging stations at Jeffersonville Country Club, and $350,000 for improvements to its All-Abilities Community Gym in Worcester.
