• Montco Files Lawsuit Against Predatory Payday Lenders, MoneyLion And Dave: DA (patch.com) — Norristown readers are being warned about alleged predatory digital payday lending as Montgomery County sues MoneyLion and Dave over high-cost paycheck advances that can trap borrowers in debt. The DA's office, working with the county solicitor from Norristown, is launching Pennsylvania's first lawsuits against digital payday lenders as part of a broader crackdown on deceptive business practices.
• Montgomery County food safety inspections found live rodents in basement trap (readingeagle.com) — Several Norristown restaurants, including Rodeo Pizza and Grill, El Gordo Bros, Longhorn Steakhouse, Gangster Vegan Organics, Popeye's, Jicome Restaurant, and others, were cited in recent Montgomery County health inspections for issues ranging from dirty equipment and pest concerns to licensing problems. Most violations can be corrected, but the reports give diners a timely look at food safety conditions close to home.
• Bridgeport woman jailed on drug trafficking charge (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Bridgeport woman has been sentenced in Norristown to 11½ to 23 months in county jail after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine in Norristown. Detectives used surveillance, controlled drug buys, and a search of her home and vehicle, where they seized multiple drugs and paraphernalia, before she accepted a plea deal that dropped several additional charges.
