Today's riddle: What do you call a paper airplane that can't fly? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. More Than 50 Flock Cameras Around Norristown, King Of Prussia: See Where (patch.com) — Residents in and around Norristown can now see exactly where more than 50 automated license plate reader cameras are positioned, thanks to a new national watchdog map. The listing pinpoints intersections and shopping areas in Norristown, West Norriton, and nearby communities, while also highlighting growing statewide debate over privacy, data storage, and calls by top Pennsylvania leaders to ban the technology.
2. Lawyer for Norristown man accused in gang slaying withdraws from case (timesherald.com) — A major Norristown murder case has been delayed after a defense attorney withdrew over a personal conflict, forcing the court to appoint new counsel for accused gang member Ziyker Washington. Washington and co-defendant Mark Fields Jr., also of Norristown, remain jailed without bail in the 2025 ambush killing of Hamid Boyd amid an ongoing feud between two local gangs.
3. Maryland man sent to prison for stalking Norristown woman (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Norristown woman's stalker has been sentenced to 1½ to 7 years in state prison after a jury convicted him of burglary and stalking tied to repeated harassment and a nighttime break-in at her Sandy Street home. The case, prosecuted in Montgomery County Court, highlights how local detectives and prosecutors responded when the victim said she no longer felt safe in her own Norristown residence.
4. Hatfield Township man faces retrial on child rape charges (pottsmerc.com subscription) — In Norristown's Montgomery County Court, a judge has refused to step aside from presiding over the December 8 retrial of a Hatfield Township man accused of repeatedly assaulting a girl in several local towns. The defendant's earlier 16- to 32-year sentence was vacated after an appeals court ordered a closer look at a Facebook message, which will now be allowed as evidence. He is currently free on bail pending retrial.
