Another Norristown Family Member Dies After Tragic Niagara Falls Crash

Four individuals have now died, including a pregnant mother and her baby. Nearly $40,000 has been raised by the community in support.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Another one of the Norristown family members injured in the fatal van crash on the way to Niagara Falls earlier this month has died, the family confirmed.

Rosario Ramirez-Luna, 43, died on Aug. 25 after suffering severe brain trauma. Rosario had been in a coma at Nicholas-Noyes Hospital in Dansville, New York.

She is the fourth individual who died as a result of the crash, and several others remain hospitalized weeks later. Three died the day of the accident: a pregnant mother, Margarita Ramirez-Luna, 40, her newborn infant Maximiliano, and 12-year-old Alex Andrade.

Friends described the family as an "integral part" of the Norristown and King of Prussia communities. Several of the accident's victims attended Norristown and Upper Merion schools. Margarita was a dedicated and active member of the community in Norristown, serving for years as a volunteer with Buffalo Ladies of Charity, a nonprofit assisting impoverished women in the region. The community is reeling.

A candlelight memorial service was held at St. Patrick Church in Norristown last week, with many in attendance. Several other victims remain hospitalized in New York.

Maria Guadalupe-Ramirez, 49, and Elizabeth Ramirez-Luna, 37, are waiting to have surgery to address their injuries.

Jorge Dolores-Gonzales, 34, the husband of Margarita, is in the hospital with his 18-month-old son, Mateas Ramirez, who is receiving treatment for his injuries.

Meanwhile, eight-year-old twins Daniel and David Estrada Ramirez, along with their 16-year-old sister Yasmin Estrada Ramirez, remain hospitalized under observation.
