Phillies' pitcher Jake Arrieta (2-0) had an excellent game Thursday night for Philadelphia, throwing seven solid innings, striking out 10, and walking just one and giving up just one hit in the Phillies 7-0 win over their in-state rivals Pittsburgh.
The Pirates fell to 12-7 on the season.
Philadelphia exploded for five of its seven runs in the second inning Thursday night. Rhys Hoskins had a deep solo homerun to leftfield. Cesar Hernandez knocked in three runs with a single and Odubel Herrera knocked in Hernandez on a single to leftfield.

The Phillies scored their other two runs in the fifth inning as Herrera and J.P. Crawford both had RBI singles to cap Philadelphia's scoring.
Philadelphia (11-7) has won 10 of its last 13 games.
