Barbers Give Norristown Football Players Free Haircuts

Likely some much needed relief from the heat.

It may be November in the minds and souls of Norristown Area High School football team, but their reality is August: plus 90 degree temperatures, thick humidity, and two-a-day practice sessions.

Five barbers from a local barber shop, the Hairzone, set up impromptu cutting stations at Norristown’s lunchroom to give players free haircuts.

“Coming into camp, it’s hot, and it’s a good thing to let the kids come in and get a haircut,” assistant coach Hakim Jones told The Times Herald. “A lot of the kids know the barbers. They spend a lot of time in the barber shops and the barbers are always supporting them when it comes to sports and school. If they look good, they play good. And we’re trying to start a tradition with the local businesses and our kids.”
