'BooPort,' Iconic Montco Festival, Recognized By U.S. Senate
The special commendation from the Senate touts the local event as a "cherished celebration of creativity."
BRIDGEPORT, PA — BooPort, the iconic Halloween festival that takes over Bridgeport each October, has received a special commendation from the U.S. Senate for its contributions to American culture.
The commendation was given to the borough by Sen. John Fetterman.
"The event serves as a cornerstone of life in Montgomery County, drawing participation from neighboring towns and creating a welcoming space that highlights the region's cultural spirit," the proclamation reads.

Bridgeport borough council President Saba Al-Zaid said the recognition honored the commitment and spirit of local volunteers.
"What started as a local idea has grown into one of Montgomery County’s largest Halloween traditions, bringing together thousands of residents, families, small businesses, artists, and visitors to celebrate creativity, community, and joy," Al-Zaid said. "This recognition belongs to everyone who shows up, volunteers, decorates, participates, and believes in making Bridgeport a place people are proud to call home."

Bridgeport has a long history of stunning and unique Halloween decorations and celebrations, including the Elks Haunted House. The borough's various festivities in October were organized under the united banner of BooPort in 2024.
