Bridgeport Man Gets 25 To 50 Years In Prison For Fatal Stabbing

Breaking: The Bridgeport man who stabbed his former lover to death on the DeKalb St. Bridge has been sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The Bridgeport man who stabbed his former lover to death on the DeKalb St. Bridge has been sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison.

Bruce Puia, 51, was convicted on charges of third degree murder in the slaying of Donna Marie Donato, 62, in January, according to court documents.

The Times Herald reports that prosecutors argued Puia had meticulously planned the attack, citing frequent searches related to killing with a knife and killing with a hammer.

Both a knife and a hammer were found in Puia's backpack when he was arrested.

When police arrived, they found Puia with blood on his hands. Donato, meanwhile, was already dead, authorities said.

Puia told police that he and Donato had previously dated.
