Bridgeport To Transform Parking Lot Into Event Venue, Tree Grove, Public Space

BRIDGEPORT, PA — A large municipal parking lot in Bridgeport will be transformed into a public space featuring a trailhead and a grove of trees, officials said in announcing a significant new investment in the plan.

The lot at 440 Mill Street will serve as a future venue for community events and as an access point to the proposed Bridgeport Spur Trail, a half mile connector between the borough and the Chester valley Trail.

Other improvements planned on the lot include two electric vehicle charging stations, new lighting and security cameras, waste receptacles, seating, and bicycle parking.

At least 35 trees will be planed, and though details are still being ironed out, the county says that there will be an "enlarged area of green space" surrounding the lot.

The project has received a $250,000 from the Montco 2040 program, which provided $2.75 million to 16 select projects across the county. Projects were chosen for need for how they supported larger county goals of connecting communities, sustainability, and supporting the local economy.

An exact timeline has not yet been announced.
