Burglar Rappels Down 40 Feet From Ceiling Of KOP Costco To Steal Jewelry: Cops

Ninja-like, the burglar rappelled from the ceiling of the King of Prussia Costco, where he stole jewelry, police said.

A thief rappelled from the ceiling of the King of Prussia Costco in order to steal jewelry, the Upper Merion Police Department said.

The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 6 at the store on 201 Allendale Road at around 1 a.m., according to police.

Police said that the burglar climbed a drainage pipe to the roof and then pried open a skylight. Once the skylight was open, he tied a rope to a roof support beam and rappelled 40 feet down to the sales floor, authorities said.

Once there, he stole an unknown quantity of jewelry.

Police suspect that the burglar is "familiar with climbing sports."
