Church Severely Damaged In Major Norristown Fire

A fire laid waste to the Faith Tabernacle House of Prayer in Norristown Tuesday night.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A destructive blaze tore through Norristown's Faith Tabernacle House of Prayer on Tuesday night, severely damaging the church, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The incident began at around 7 p.m. Tuesday night and drew a massive response from firefighters around Montgomery, Delaware, and Bucks counties.

Photos and videos from the scene show flames coming out of the windows and and top of the church as smoke engulfed the area.

Crews remained on scene addressing the issue Wednesday morning.

"Please continue to keep everyone affected in your prayers," State Rep. Greg Scott said in a statement. "This situation is on-going and involves a lot of personnel."

The 500 block of DeKalb Street remains shut down early Wednesday.
