Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency Issued In Montgomery Co.
In the land of extremes, a day after record high temperatures in some parts of the region, a dangerously frigid front will take over.
NORRISTOWN, PA β Dangerously frigid temperatures are on the way to the region, and officials in Montgomery County have issued an alert to the public.
A Code Blue cold weather emergency has been declared for Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. to Thursday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m.
It comes just a day after record high temperatures were set in many parts of the region, as highs soared into the upper 70s.

However, Tuesday night will see low temperatures in the mid-20s in parts of the county, and similar lows are possible on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Code Blue declarations allow the county to marshal additional resources for the region to help those who need shelter and other assistance.

If you need emergency shelter, call the Your Way Home Call Center at 610-278-3522.
The county offered the following tips to residents:
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated
- If you see someone in need of immediate emergency assistance, call or text 9-1-1
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; DO NOT call 9-1-1
