Code Blue Declared In Montgomery County Through Christmas Eve
Single digit temperatures are on the horizon.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County has declared a Code Blue cold weather emergency for six days as a significant frigid front moves into the region.
The declaration will be in place from Wednesday, December 18 at 9 p.m. until Tuesday, December 24 at 9 a.m.
Single digit temperatures are on the horizon, with the coldest weather coming early next week. However, overnight lows will see wind chills plummet in the 20s or teens most nights through Christmas Eve.

Code Blue declarations allow the county to marshal additional resources for the region to help those who need shelter and other assistance.

- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated
- If you see someone in need of immediate emergency assistance, call or text 9-1-1
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; DO NOT call 9-1-1
