Code Red Declared In Montgomery Co. As Lethal Heat Wave Descends
A life-threatening mixture of heat and humidity will greet Montgomery County residents as they begin September.
NORRISTOWN, PA — As a record setting summer around the globe makes itself felt in southeastern Pennsylvania, Montgomery County authorities have issued a Code Red weather emergency.
The Code Red goes into effect at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and expires on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.
Temperatures will soar into the mid to upper 90s across the region, with humidity making the actual air outside feel like it's over 100.

"Such conditions can be deadly, and residents should take precautions to prevent heat-related stress and exhaustion," the county said in announcing the Code Red.
In Montgomery County, residents are urged to check on the most vulnerable residents, particularly those with severe medical conditions.

The county has services available to the public, specifically to those vulnerable residents who are most at-risk, including the elderly, young children, and the homeless. If you need emergency shelter, call the Your Way Home Call Center at 2-1-1, or text your zip code to 898-211.
